Corday’s Legacy

Corday Burgess was born on August 27, 1985, 0r as his mother says, that was the day of his sunrise. His sunset came just 32 years later but only after Corday lived a life of intense love, struggles, tough decisions, hardship, and giving.

Corday was born with a heart of love. He grew up giving to anyone who was less fortunate than himself. He became known for his heart of gold.  He dedicated time to helping those in his community, the westside of Columbus, Ohio.  He shared his gifts with the community through picking up trash, painting murals in the community, and attending the Boys & Girls Club.

Corday was a natural athlete and believed in the benefits of healthy competition. .

Corday also had some heartache.  In spite of his own pain, Corday kept helping people.  In his teens, Corday has some troubles but still grew to be a man with that heart of gold he was known for in his youth.

Corday had aspirations of being a barber but his dreams were not fulfilled; On December 20, 2017, Corday Burgess, was murdered.

The loss of Corday is a disaster to the family he left behind.

Our organization wants to ensure that another family does not feel the same pain that Corday’s family has felt.  We stand together to stop violence in our community.

#EndtheViolence

Enough is Enough

Our organization is here because enough is enough. Honestly, we’re fed up. We’re tired of hearing violence has ruined another family, another neighborhood, another life. But we’re not so tired that we do nothing.

We will do something.

We will live with Corday’s love and spirit in our hearts and souls. We will use that to be the change we want to see in our communities. We will stand up to show that violence has no place here, or anywhere. We will show love and kindness to our communities, and show our children how beautiful life is above and beyond the violence.

What We Do

Corday Burgess was killed on December 20, 2017, in Columbus, Ohio. His mother and brothers have formeded the non-profit Corday’s Golden Heart and sponsoring Corday’s Golden Christmas.

Corday’s Golden Christmas will be five days of giving away food, toys, clothes, and love to children on Columbus’ west side. We will hit the streets, the same streets that can be so mean, and spread happiness to the children we see. And Corday’s heart will live on.

In addition to our Annual Golden Christmas giving event we also do small events throughout the community.

$50 Saves a Life

Many youths and teens don’t have the financial support to play sports, attend art classes or join recreational programs which keep their minds and hearts focused on positive influences.  A small donation can help these young people gain access to these community resources, camps, sports, and arts programs that will keep them focused on a golden future.

Stand with Us

Enough is Enough! Never should another mother cry from the loss of her child to gun violence.  We are taking back our communities by making a stand in a big way.  It’s time our children see how much we value them.  Young people are a gift that must be cherished.  They need us to provide them with hope.  Take a stand with us today.
